FPSO to process difficult crude in extremely hostile environment
Our client had won a contract to deploy an FPSO to process difficult crude with low wax appearance temperature to withstand tough environment conditions such as cyclones prevalent offshore Vietnam; that too in shallow waters less than 43 metres – a feat never done before.
The FPSO was converted from an Oil tanker to achieve 55,000 barrels per day processing capacity. The layout was innovative and operator friendly, the process was pioneering and engineering analysis rigorous.

Fast Track Multi discipline Topsides Engineering for FPSO
An FPSO contract was awarded to our client who converted and deployed an AfraMax vessel to be initially attached to 4 wells (2 off 6” production, 1 gas injection, 1 water injection) and with space to expand up to 12 wells. The vessel has a storage capacity of 1.1 million barrels with a processing capacity of 40,000 bopd.

FPSO Modification for deployment to New Oil Field
For oil & gas fields located in shallow water offshore Nigeria, a nine slot WHP was planned to be connected directly to an FPSO. For this, an existing FPSO was converted and readied for this field. Job involvement was for the new modules engineered for installation on the FPSO which included Test Separator, Pig Receiver, Gas Lift Compressor, Fuel Gas skid, 2 MW Generator skid and Riser Porch – FEED Update, Detailed Engineering and Follow On Engineering were done by us.
Design Study for FPSO and WHP
Basic design study for FPSO and WHP with particular focus on separation distance (spread mooring analysis to determine 100 year incursion when one line is lost, dispersion, radiation and blast impact), minimum facilities definition on Well Head Platform. Also performed preliminary Mooring Analysis and MOPU/ Jacket launch simulation studies
FSO Conversion
Engineering for the conversion of a tanker to a storage and off-loading vessel was carried out by Tuff. The inspection and detailed on board study of the vessel’s existing facilities was conducted the entire engineering was managed and executed. It started with new GA, Emergency Escape routes, Hazard Classification and updation of existing documentation (since most of the drawings were missing, incomplete or obsolete).
Both topside and marine side engineering were carried out. New boiler was added in engine room, new STG & Vacuum Condenser, new WT plants were also added. New equipment’s and systems like sea water pumps, Feed water systems, Boiler fans etc were added. Also designed were CTMS modules, Laydown Module, Crane Boom rest etc. Other systems like Riser Porch, Offloading platform, Hose handling platform, Winches etc. were engineered. The Electrical systems were also designed for these. The entire gamut of Instrumentation for Topsides as well as Marine systems including CCR, CCTV, PAGA, LAN, PABX, IPS, AFDS, Radio office, F&G, Entertainment systems were done by us.

Refurbishment and Upgrade of Independent Leg Cantilever Jack Up Rig (Marathon LeT Design) – multi-discipline engineering and yard support – structural, piping and electrical – for all the various systems and equipment’s.
